18th ANNUAL CHILDRENS ART SHOW


Coming May 7 thru May 31 the show will be displayed at the CARLSBAD OCEANSIDE ART LEAGUE gallery located at 300 Carlsbad Village Drive, Suite 101 (Carlsbad Village Fair Center).
Awards will be presented at 2:00 PM, Sunday May 11.
COAL's Mary Anne Bloom, 'Director of Youth Programs for Childrens Shows' has organized this event.

"Something personal and emotional happens between myself and the landscape before me and with each painting I want to try some new way to share this emotional/spiritual experience with others".



Jo's current focus is on plein air floral and landscapes. From pencil portraits of students on a Kansas school bus, her artistic experiences also include Hallmark Card designer, Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Certified as a K-12 art teacher, Masters Degree and a student of Chinese Brush painting.

Demonstration April 08

Rich Buchwald will be COAL's April demonstrator. He is on the board of directors of the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild, is a Juried Member of the Society of Marine Artists, a Juried Associate of Watercolor West and holds signature memberships in the Colorado, Montana and Northwest Watercolor Societies. He is published in "The Best of Watercolor Series, Light and Shade" and the "Foss Maritime Calenders"
His work experience includes 33 Years as an art supervisor, teacher, Chicago Public Schools, the United Scenic Artist for television, CBS and NBC.

Demonstration March 2008

"My work is about Texture, Light, Object and Personal Symbols expressing my love for intimacy with Life-Dream-Beauty-and Mysteries".

Claire-Lisa Matthey Anderegg was born, raised and educated in Switzerland.
Now residing in San Diego, she describes each of her creations "as a sort of intimate battle, paved with experimentation, transformation, discovery, struggle, joy, excitment and surprise".
Being attracted to ancient civilization, oriental art and their philosophies, her work reflects and brings those images to the surface.


The demonstration is open to the public.

John Mosely,plein air artist, will be COAL's February demonstrating artist. Mainly self taught, John has nurtured his natural gift for art through serious and dedicated study of the Renaissance Masters, the European Post-impressionists and Secessionist as well as contemporay and early American artists.
His works reflect a spiritual and emotional connection with the subject matter, that comes from his appreciation of the beauty, power and balance in all of nature.
Demo will take place at the Calavera Hills Community Center, Calavera Community Park, 2997 Glasgow Drive, Carlsbad, CA.

ALISON CHRISTLER

















Alison was originally trained as a classical pianist and interior designer, then went into fine art studies in oil and watercolor. She has studied with notables like Sergei Bongart, Frank Webb, Tom Fong and Milford Zornes. Now conducts painting workshops both here and abroad. Her emphasizes is on design principles and value/color relationships.

Is the 2008 Carlsbad Calendar and Community Guide. Front and back covers designed by COAL's own Mary Anne Nilsson. Mary Anne, a valuable and active member of the Carlsbad Oceanside Art League is also Co-Director of COAL's Youth Programs for Children's Shows.


Two of Mary Anne's favorite images come together in an explosion of color on the front cover, the Egret and 4th of July.


Back cover is a satellite image of Carlsbad, the landscape patterns of tree, land and water stylized with Mary Anne's earthy color design.
