CAROL ZALESKI -----COLLAGE ARTIST
The demonstration takes place Friday, Nov. 13, 1:30 to 3:30 PM.
Calavera Hills Community Center, Calavera Community Park, 2997 Glasgow Drive,[map], Carlsbad
"The energetic and colorful work of Toulouse-Lautrec inspires me," says Zaleski. "I also relate to Mary Cassatt's subject sensitivity and personal involvement with her people".
But it's paper-the textures, colors, or even the attached memories (like wrappings of a gift received)-that is Zaleski's particular fasination. "Layering them into a painting that sparks emotion to become a feast for the eyes is what I hope for when I create collage".
Zaleski paints in mixed water media and experiments in collage. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Fallbrook Art Association and is represented by Brandon Gallery in Fallbrook, where she has received first place awards. Her work has also received recognition at the San Diego County Fair, the Fallbrook Art Association, the Studio of Art and Design, and the Fallbrook Art School Life Drawing, where she was recognized with Best of Show.
"Bits of paper can make hard or soft edges, large masses or tiny patterns, and draw you out in myriad ways". Zaleski says. "We are all multi-layered. My collages reflect my excitementin the layering experience. It changes a surface that stimulates and jolts the mind."
